Dwayne Johnson introduces Maui in new 'Moana' clip on social media

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) — Dwayne Johnson has taken to social media to share a new Maui focused clip from his upcoming Disney animated adventure, Moana.

“A @Twitter EXCLUSIVE: A lesson on how to address the demigod, Maui. Enjoy the clip! #MoanaMondays,” the wrote on Twitter Monday alongside the minute long clip.

The footage features Johnson’s demigod Maui as he meets main protagonist Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) for the first time.

“It’s Maui, shapeshifter, demigod of the wind and sea, hero of men,” Maui says interrupting a greeting Moana as he attempts to correct her on his full title.

After interrupting her again about how he is also a “hero to women” and after giving out an unwanted autograph, Moana gets loud in order to grab Maui’s attention.

“You are not my hero and I’m not here so you can sign my oar,” she says forcefully.

Moana which is set for release on Nov. 23, will also feature music from Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Recently the soundtrack to the film was given a release date of Nov. 18.

“From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people,” reads the official synopsis.

“During her journey, Moana (Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity,” it continues.
