NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) — Dwayne Johnson impressed fans with his silent rendition of “Shake It Off” on Lip Sync Battle.
The 42-year-old actor performed the Taylor Swift single on the Spike TV program’s series premiere Thursday. Johnson competed against Jimmy Fallon, who originated “Lip Sync Battle” as a sketch on The Tonight Show.
Johnson followed up with “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, while the 40-year-old television host took on “Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora)” by Harry Belafonte and “Like a Prayer” by Madonna. The actor won against Fallon, and rapper Common prevailed over singer John Legend later in the evening.
Johnson landed a lead voice role in new Disney movie Moana this week, and announced he will sing in the film on Instagram. The actor shared a photo of himself at the studio, writing, “Just had an amazing 2hr presentation and it’s easy to see why they’re they greatest story tellers in the world.”
Johnson last appeared with Vin Diesel and late actor Paul Walker in Furious 7. The star is scheduled for a number of other upcoming projects, including disaster movie San Andreas, spy comedy Central Intelligence and DC Comics film Shazam.
