NEW YORK, March 12 (UPI) — Elizabeth Hurley thinks ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant is very annoying.
The 49-year-old actress said as much in an interview with Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday. Hurley and Grant dated for 13 years before breaking up in 2000, and the star said their split was due in part to the actor’s grouchy personality.
“Well, he remains my best friend to this day, but — I mean, I’d say this if he were here sitting here — he used to really annoy me,” she told host Andy Cohen. “I mean, I love him but he’s very annoying. He is [very cranky and curmudgeonly]. My friends used to call him ‘grumplestiltskin.’”
Hurley agreed she finds Grant’s grumpiness “very charming,” but said she isn’t able to deal with the trait 24/7. Grant previously told Cohen he and Hurley broke up because “the sex bit probably fizzled out,” but the actress considers her ex a “10” out of 10 in bed.
Hurley and Grant remain friends, and the actress named the star godfather to her son, Damian Charles, in 2002. Grant has a daughter, Tabitha, and son, Felix, with Tinglan Hong, and a son with Anna Elisabet Eberstein.
Hurley is known for such films as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Bedazzled, and portrayed Diana Payne on The CW series Gossip Girl. The actress will next star as Queen Helena on E! drama The Royals, which is scheduled to premiere March 15.
