NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) — Emma Slater addressed Alek Skarlatos dating rumors Tuesday on Good Morning America.
The 26-year-old English professional dancer discussed her relationship with the 23-year-old American Oregon Army National Guard specialist in an interview with anchor George Stephanopoulos.
“We’re still close, we’re still great friends,” she said of the Dancing with the Stars season 21 contestant. “We didn’t go on a date yet. We’ll see. I should, because I kind of broke his nose.”
Slater and Skarlatos sparked speculation after they were partnered for Switch-Up Night in week 5 of competition. The pair scored a 29 with their rumba to James Bay song “Let It Go,” but the dancer accidentally broke Skarlatos’ nose in rehearsals.
“I felt so bad,” Slater recalled. “When they took him to the hospital, it was just awful. I basically turned and I just kicked him with my elbow, and we heard this awful crack. I was devastated.”
Skarlatos previously told E! News “no comment” when asked if he has a crush on Slater. The specialist and partner Lindsay Arnold remain in competition, but Slater and Hayes Grier were eliminated on Monday’s episode.
Slater joined Dancing with the Stars in season 14, and previously competed with Bill Engvall, Billy Dee Williams, Michael Waltrip and Redfoo. Skarlatos made headlines after he helped to stop a gunman on a Paris-bound train in August, and appears on season 21 Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
