MILAN, Italy, Nov. 13 (UPI) — Emma Watson posed for a spooky photo shoot for Vogue Italia this month with dark hair, instead of her usual, glossy, lighter color.
The United Nations Goodwill Ambassador reminisced about her appearance as the young Hermoine Granger in Harry Potter’s first installment, telling the magazine when she sees her 11-year-old self in Sorcerer’s Stone, the first thing she notices is how “ugly my hair was.”
“It’s always surprising to see how long it’s been,” she said. “It’s nice to…remember the childlike wonder I had about everything.”
Watson, 25, also discussed her longstanding studious nature which may have landed her the part of Granger when she was 11 years old. “At school I always sat in the front rows,” she tells the Italian magazine, and when there were questions I always raised my hand. I admit, I was a little nerd.”
The actress most recently made headlines when she interviewed women’s education advocate Malala Yousafzai at the premier of the documentary He Named Me Malala earlier this month. The two public figures discussed gender equality and the term “feminism.”
“I want to make [feminism] a welcoming and inclusive movement,” Watson wrote after the interview. “Let’s join our hands and move together so we can make real change. Malala and I are pretty serious about it but we need you.”
