‘Empire’ stars Grace Gealey, Trai Byers engaged

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) — Actress Grace Gealey confirmed she is engaged to Empire co-star Trai Byers during an episode of Tyra Banks’ FabLife.

During the episode, which will air Oct. 7, Gealey, 31, publicly announces she and Byers’ intention to wed although their engagement was reportedly confirmed by various outlets over the summer.

The couple reportedly started dating earlier in the year. A source told Us Weekly in March Gealey and Byers felt an immediate connection upon meeting on set of Empire. “They started seeing each other during the shooting of the show,” the source said. The couple sparked romance rumors when they were each other’s dates to a wedding.

The two appear regularly on the Fox hit show alongside actors Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollett. Gealey plays Anika Calhoun, the fiancee to Howard’s character, Lucious Lyon; Byer, on the other hand, plays Lyon’s son Andre.

Empire’s sophomore season returned to Fox’s weekly lineup late September and is already expected to feature several celebrity cameos by Mariah Carey, Vivica A. Fox and Tyrese Gibson among others. The series airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

FabLife, the daytime television talk show hosted and produced by former model Tyra Banks, is co-hosted by John Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley.
