Ernie Hudson to appear in ‘Ghostbusters’ re-boot

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) — Original Ghostbusters icon Ernie Hudson will appear in the 2016 re-boot of the paranormal film franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter, which shared the casting news, said Hudson was seen on the film’s set on the final day of shooting.

It is unclear whether the actor reprised his role of Winston Zeddemore, the character he played in the 1984 blockbuster Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II, alongside Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and the late Harold Ramis.

Paul Feig is directing the new version, which will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. The movie, featuring Murray in a cameo, is scheduled for release July 22.

Hudson, 69, continued to enjoy a successful career after the Ghostbusters movies, most notably starring in the celebrated HBO series Oz and guest-starring on ABC’s Once Upon a Time.
