WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) — About a dozen of America’s most successful citizens are advising President Obama on his post-presidency career options.
According to the New York Times, Hollywood actress Eva Longoria, novelist Toni Morrison and others have taken part in late night dinner meetings with the president and his wife to discuss fundraising options for his library and other ventures.
The eclectic group of advisors also included writer Malcom Gladwell, venture capitalist John Doerr, hedge fund manager Marc Lasry, and Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla.
Longoria became a driving force in Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign and has since been an activist for his administration’s immigration reform work, according to reports.
The Times reports that the president is looking to raise $800 million to $1 billion to fund a “digital-first” presidential library stocked with the latest technology. The outlet says Obama first became exceedingly interested in telling stories using technology after seeing the White House screening of Lincoln in 2012.
