Extreme winds cause waterfall to flow ‘upwards’ in Faroe Islands

GASADALUR, Faroe Islands, Dec. 7 (UPI) — Strong winds that spurred potential record waves in the Faroe Islands also caused a waterfall to appear to flow “upwards” in a video posted online.

The video, posted to YouTube by Mortan Mortensen, shows huge waves crashing against a cliff in the coastal settlement of Gasadalur amid extreme winds Dec. 5.

The video features a waterfall on the cliff appearing to flow “upwards” in the heavy winds.

Mortensen said the waves he recorded during the storm could potentially exceed nearly 65-foot record for wave height in the islands.
