NEW YORK, Nov. 27 (UPI) — Director David Yates and producer David Heyman have confirmed the four central characters from the New York-set Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will appear in the sequel, which will take place in Paris.

Expected to return are Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie and Dan Fogler as Jacob.

“Those four guys go straight into the next movie, but we introduce some really interesting characters. Jo [Rowling] is actually writing some cracking new characters in France,” Yates told UPI in New York recently.

“The world just gets richer and bigger and its reach expands,” added Heyman, who was sitting beside Yates.

Fogler recalled in a separate interview how Rowling broke the news that the next movie would take place in a different city than the one the film crew painstakingly re-created in England for the first Beasts.

“I heard a funny story about that. They built all of New York in Leavesdon and then David Heyman was like: ‘It’s wonderful, isn’t it? They came and built all of New York.’ And then [Rowling] was just like: ‘It’s kind of funny… The next one takes place in Paris,’” the actor told UPI with a laugh. “And [Heyman] was like, ‘We were hoping to get some play out of this set for a while.’”

Asked if he is happy to continue playing his instantly beloved No-Maj or Muggle character in a second adventure, Fogler replied, “Oh, my God, yeah.”

The five, planned Beasts pictures are to serve as prequels to the blockbuster Harry Potter film franchise. All of the movies take place in Rowling’s Wizarding World.
