ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 9 (UPI) — A Florida man claims to have used his singing voice to get out of a ticket for an unbuckled seat belt.
Gospel singer T.J. Bristol posted a video to Facebook of him recording himself after being pulled over by police in Orange County for not wearing his seat belt.
“God just got me out of this big ticket maybe you should try singing to your police officers,” he wrote in the post.
Bristol exited the vehicle after declaring that he would “pray my way out of this” and serenades the two female officers with a rendition of the song “You Are So Beautiful,” while filming himself with a selfie stick.
The officers then congratulate Bristol on his performance as he promises to always buckle his seat belt in the future.
A post from the Orange County Sheriff Department states that one of the officers, Corporal Ricks, requested that Bristol sing her a song.
According to the post, Ricks is the widow of fellow officer Brandon Coates and the encounter took place on the five-year anniversary of his death in the line of duty.
Ricks said the music was therapeutic and wanted to inform people that she is “out there every day, with a smile and still ‘making a difference’ despite everything going on!”
