ATHENS, Ga., Dec. 2 (UPI) — Hines Ward isn’t shy about his Georgia Bulldogs lineage or his desire to take the sidelines in Athens.
On Wednesday, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver told ESPN’s Paul Finebaum that a move to coach under Georgia’s new coach Kirby Smart would intrigue him.
“That’s something I would be intrigued with if he gave me a call,” Ward told Finebaum.
Ward, 39, left the ranks of the NFL after the 2011 season. In 14 seasons with the Steelers, Ward had 1,000 receptions for 12,083 yards and 85 receiving touchdowns.
Ward won two Super Bowls and went to the Pro Bowl four times in his career. Smart and Ward were Bulldogs teammates in the late 1990s.
