New York (AFP) – Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and J.B. Holmes were named as the first three captain’s picks for the USA’s Ryder Cup team on Monday.
US captain Davis Love III said Fowler’s temperament had helped him earn a place on the squad for this month’s battle with Europe.
“We found no weaknesses in his game, he’s such a great team-mate and he’s really confident on the big stage,” Love told a news conference.
The United States will be bidding to prevent a fourth consecutive Ryder Cup victory for Europe when the teams face off at Hazeltine in Minnesota from September 30 to October 2.
