VENICE, Italy, Sept. 12 (UPI) — Lorenzo Vigas’ From Afar won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice International Film Festival Saturday.
The Silver Lion for Best Director went to Pablo Trapero for El Clan, while Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson took home the Grand Jury Prize for Anomalisa.
Valeria Golino earned the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress for her work in the film Per Amor Vostro and Fabrice Luchini won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor for his performance in L’Hermine, which also garnered the prize for Best Screenplay.
The Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor was presented to Abraham Attah for his turn in Beasts of No Nation and the Special Jury Prize went to Frenzy by Emin Alper.
This year’s festival jury was chaired by Alfonso Cuarón and comprised of Elizabeth Banks, Emmanuel Carrère, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Diane Kruger, Francesco Munzi, Pawel Pawlikowski and Lynne Ramsey.
