German leaders call for stop to anti-Islamic rallies

DRESDEN, Germany, Jan. 12 (UPI) — German leaders are urging calm Monday as thousands are expected to join the anti-Islamic PEGIDA rally in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks that left 17 dead.

German Justice Minister Heiko Maas urged PEGIDA, or Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West, to cancel the planned protest and urged protesters to stay home. Maas told
