WASGHINGTON, D.C., June 23 (UPI) — Cody Simpson shared a Snapchat photo sitting next to ex-girlfriend and Sports Illustrated model Gigi Hadid on a flight Monday.
The two were randomly assigned adjacent seats on their return trip to the U.S. from the Much Music Video Awards in Toronto, Canada. The two reportedly attended the event separately.
“When you get seated next to ur ex on a plane,” Simpson wrote in the Snapchat post, adding a skull emoji.
Simpson and Hadid officially split in early May, when the model’s publicist confirmed that the two wanted to focus on their careers. “Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows him to only focus on his music, fans, and new message, while she can focus and continue building her career,” her rep said at the time.
“They remain friends with no hard feelings and each other’s biggest supporters.”
Their apparently awkward plane trip occurs in the wake of emerging rumors that Hadid and Joe Jonas have sparked a new romance.
