WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican Party is adding a new presidential debate to its 2016 calendar.
Fox Business Network has announced plans to host a Jan. 14 debate in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Republican National Committee originally sanctioned just one debate for January in Iowa, but has decided to add a second faceoff.
Debates have played a critical role in shaping the crowded Republican presidential contest so far. Networks have drawn record ratings for the early meetings.
Republicans have held four debates so far this year, with a fifth set for next week in Las Vegas. With the South Carolina addition, at least five more are scheduled through the end of February.
