LONDON, June 13 (UPI) — Gordon Ramsay and wife Tana are mourning the loss of their unborn son.

The 49-year-old British celebrity chef announced in a Facebook post Monday that his wife suffered a miscarriage at five months pregnant over the weekend.

“Hi guys, Tana and I want to thank you so much for your support over the past couple of weeks,” Ramsay wrote. “We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months.”

“We’re together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes,” he added. “I’d especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they’ve done.”

Ramsay had announced his wife’s pregnancy on The Late Late Show with James Corden in May. He and Tana are already parents to four teenage children and were looking forward to welcoming a second son.

“I’m a little bit nervous. Little bit nervous,” the star said at the time. “[The baby is due in] September. Obviously I’m happy with another girl, [but then I’d have] four girls. Four weddings, four sweet sixteens, four boyfriends.”

Ramsay is known for the cooking shows MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell. He also owns a number of restaurants across the globe, including his signature restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in London.
