Hayden Panettiere returns to red carpet after postpartum treatment

BERLIN, Dec. 8 (UPI) — Hayden Panettiere returned to the red carpet Saturday, nearly two months after entering treatment for postpartum depression.

The 26-year-old American actress and fiancé Wladimir Klitschko attended the 2015 Ein Herz Feur Kinder Gala in Berlin. Vitali Klitschko, the 39-year-old Ukrainian boxer’s elder brother, and his wife, Natalia Egorova, were also present at the charity event.

The fundraiser marked Panettiere’s first red carpet appearance since she checked into a treatment facility in October. She recently emerged to cheer on Klitschko during his Nov. 28 boxing match with Tyson Fury in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Panettiere and Klitschko welcomed their first child, daughter Kaya, in December 2014, and the actress revealed her struggle with postpartum depression in September. She alluded to a fresh start last week by sharing a photo of her new haircut on Twitter.

“Chopping hair off is like getting rid of metaphorical and literal dead ends. Off with the old and growing the new,” she captioned the picture, adding a flexed arm emoji.

Panettiere plays Juliette Barnes on ABC musical drama Nashville, which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET. The actress, whose character also struggles with postpartum depression, said she can “very much relate” to Juliette in September.
