WASHINGTON (AP) — All of the Republican presidential candidates will be in Washington on Thursday for a forum hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition.
One reason for the draw is casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who spent $90 million during the 2012 elections, making him that year’s top donor. Adelson is the coalition’s major funder, but he is not attending the forum.
Candidates each will have 30 minutes to speak and answer questions from Jewish leaders about foreign affairs and their support of Israel. About 700 are expected to attend.
Adelson political aide Andy Abboud says the businessman has no immediate plans to put money behind one of the 14 Republicans in the race. In fewer than two weeks, the Republicans will head to Adelson’s Las Vegas casino for the next GOP debate.
