Hope Solo asks for domestic violence charges to be dismissed

KIRKLAND, Wash., Dec. 12 (UPI) — Soccer player Hope Solo is trying to have the domestic violence charges against her dismissed, citing the alleged victims’ resistance to deposition.

“The defense has been seriously prejudiced by the actions of the City’s witnesses,” attorney Todd Maybrown wrote in the motion to dismiss. “It now appears that these witnesses will never cooperate or appear for depositions.”

Solo is accused of hitting her nephew and then assaulting his mother when she tried to intervene. The two have reportedly refused to schedule depositions before the trial.

Maybrown also makes the case that Solo was the victim of the incident. He maintains she received a concussion from being hit repeatedly with a broomstick.

Solo’s hearing is scheduled for Dec. 30 to address the motion and the trial is scheduled for January.
