LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) — The animated family comedy Hotel Transylvania 2 is the No. 1 movie in North America this weekend, earning $47.5 million in receipts, Rentrak announced Sunday.
The sequel features the voice talents of Selena Gomez, Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Mel Brooks, Molly Shannon, Kevin James and Steve Buscemi.
Coming in at No. 2 for the period of Sept. 25-27 is The Intern with $18.2 million, followed by Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials with $14 million, Everest at No. 4 with $13.1 million and Black Mass at No. 5 with $11.5 million.
Rounding out the top tier are The Visit at No. 6 with $6.7 million, The Perfect Guy at No. 7 with $4.8 million, War Room at No. 8 with $4.3 million, The Green Inferno at No. 9 with $3.5 million and Sicario at No. 10 with $1.8 million.
