‘House of Cards’ political ad teaser airs during GOP debate

WASHINGTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) — House of Cards fictional President Frank Underwood has begun campaigning for Season 4 of Netflix’s hit political drama.

“It’s a new day in America,” said Underwood’s political ad-like teaser trailer that aired during Tuesday Night’s GOP debate.

The footage features sweeping landscapes, hardworking American people and a message from Underwood himself urging voters to keep him in office. “America, I’m only getting started,” star Kevin Spacey says coldly to the audience, hinting at the ruthless leaders plans for Season 4.

Underwood was last seen in the middle of a re-election campaign during the show’s 3rd season when his wife Claire, played by Robin Wright, decided to leave him.

Netflix also created a campaign website for the upcoming season, FU2016.com where Underwood further lays out his plan for progress. “I have no patience for useless things – like political gridlock and stagnation. And neither should you,” the site reads. “Join me. Let’s roll up our sleeves together. Let’s plow through the stubborn and small-minded and send Washington a message loud and clear.”

“I’m Frank Underwood, and I approve this message,” Spacey declares.

Wright was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her role as Claire.

House of Cards returns to Netflix March 4.
