LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13 (UPI) — Iggy Azalea disassociated herself with reports she may be teaming up with Rita Ora and others to remake the 1975 classic “Lady Marmalade.”

After the Sun reported Ora intends to convene with Azalea, Miley Cyrus and Charli XCX for a recreation of the song, the Australian rapper took to Twitter to shut down rumors and criticisms attacking her.

“Please leave me out of the whole Lady Marmalade conversation,” she wrote Monday. “I have nothing to do with ritas ideas & agree it should be left alone. Thanks.” [sic]

Many netizens disapprove of the idea to remake the soul classic because a contemporary version of the song was released by vocal powerhouses Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya and Pink in 2001 for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Others believe Ora should consider other singers, suggesting artists like Demi Lovato, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Lady Gaga to take part in the song instead.

“I’m trying to round up the troops,” Ora reportedly told the Sun. “I think it would be me, Miley [Cyrus], Charli XCX — she’d be fun — and Iggy [Azalea].” Since the report was published, neither Ora nor the others mentioned have commented on the possible collaboration.
