MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Impact have acquired former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba in a trade with the Chicago Fire.
Drogba joins the MLS club following his second spell at Chelsea where he won the league title last season. The 37-year-old forward signed with the Fire, who then sent him to the Impact on Monday for general and targeted allocation money.
Montreal president Joey Saputo says it’s an honor to welcome Drogba to the team.
Drogba scored the winning penalty kick when Chelsea won its first Champions League crown in 2012.
