RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Impeachment proceedings have been opened against Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
The speaker of the nation’s lower house says he’s opening the impeachment process based on accusations that Rousseff’s government broke fiscal responsibility laws this year.
Two-thirds of the full lower house must approve the impeachment process for it to actually move forward.
There is no word yet on when that vote may take place.
