MILAN, Italy, Dec. 21 (UPI) — Felipe Melo might want to exercise some caution when it comes to using his flexibility on the soccer field.
The Inter Milan midfielder, 32, was sent off Sunday during a 2-1 loss to Lazio at home due to a high kick that he planted on Lucas Biglia.
Unfortunately Melo did two stupid things,” Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini told Sky Sports Italia. “We did the damage ourselves, we threw it away.”
On the play, Melo jumps and volleys out a dropped in ball, but his foot lands on Biglia’s shoulder. After it lands, Melo pushes off of Biglia’s neck and flips upside down before landing.
Melo has scored once in 12 games this season. Biglia, 29, has scored three times and assisted twice in 12 games.
