Iranian official says US sailor issue is ‘is being resolved’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ten U.S. Navy sailors detained by Tehran after their two boats drifted into Iranian waters are expected to be released Wednesday, according to an Iranian official .

This assertion was made by Gen. Ali Fadavi, Navy chief of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard, who was quoted Wednesday on Iran’s state TV.

It quoted Fadavi as saying: “Investigation shows that entry of American sailors into Iran’s territorial waters was due to mechanical problems in their navigation system and that issue is being resolved.”
