Israeli leader says EU should be ‘ashamed’ over labeling

BRUSSELS (AP) — Israel’s prime minister says the European Union should be “ashamed” by its decision to label products made in Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Benjamin Netanyahu, who is in Washington, issued a statement Wednesday saying the EU decision unfairly singled out Israel. He accused Europe of punishing “the side that is being attacked by terrorism.”

He says the EU “should be ashamed.”

Netanyahu says Israel’s economy will withstand the blow from the 28-member bloc, and that the move would most hurt Palestinian laborers who work in Israeli factories in the West Bank.
