Jamie Foxx, Jimmy Fallon impersonate musicians on ‘Tonight’

NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) — Actor, producer, musician, comedian and now, impersonator, Jamie Foxx appeared on The Tonight Show Wednesday night full of energy and split-second wit.

The Annie star is currently on a promotional tour for his studio album Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses and stopped by NBC Studios to play Wheel of Musical Impressions with host Jimmy Fallon.

“How it works is we’re gonna take turns hitting this button here, which activates the musical impressions generator,” Fallon said. “It will land on one random singer that one of us can do an impression of, and then one random song title. Whoever’s turn it is has to do an impression of that musician doing that song.”

First, Foxx mimicked Mick Jagger singing “Hakuna Matata,” and continued to wow the live audience with expertise as John Legend (“Toys ‘R’ Us theme”) and Jennifer Hudson (“On Top Of Spaghetti”).

After his impression of Legend, Foxx went a few steps further, imitating the “All of Me” singer’s calm persona and stoic manner of speaking. He almost walked off the stage in-character, but couldn’t find the set’s proper exit.

As Hudson, Foxx snapped into persona, belting out long-winded high notes and almost immersing the crowd into an emotional, star-powered concert as he sang about a lost meatball.

“Jaime Foxx, ladies and gentlemen!” Fallon yelled through laughter following Foxx’s unpredictable performance.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC weekdays at 11:35 p.m. eastern.
