BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) — Kjetil Jansrud of Norway leads after the downhill portion of the Alpine combined at the world championships.
There will be an afternoon run of slalom Sunday, with the times combined to determine the winner of an event that was formerly known as the super-combined.
Jansrud finished the course in 1 minute, 43.01 seconds and leads Beat Feuz of Switzerland by 0.09 seconds. American Jared Goldberg is in third, 0.68 seconds behind Jansrud, who’s searching for his first medal at worlds.
Ondrej Bank of the Czech Republic suffered a concussion and facial cuts after he crashed near the finish. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
After a lengthy delay, defending champion Ted Ligety was next to race. He said he “skied horrible” and is 3.03 seconds behind.
