MIAMI, April 18 (UPI) — Jennifer Lopez will perform a musical tribute to the late Tejano music icon Selena at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Telemundo announced.
The event is to take place April 30 at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Florida.
Selena Quintanilla-Perez was a singer, songwriter, actress and fashion designer whose contributions have made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century, the cable television network noted in a news release. She was shot and killed by her business partner in 1995 when she was 23.
Lopez played the influential, young star in the 1997 biopic Selena.
