ROGERS, Ark., April 3 (UPI) — Jill Duggar is not in labor… yet.
The 23-year-old reality star clarified she is experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions after husband Derick Dillard announced she had gone into labor in a blog post Friday.
Braxton Hicks contractions are a normal occurrence thought to aid the uterus in preparation for birth. The sensation is also known as “false labor,” and may begin in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
“Out to lunch…maybe this spicy Mexican food will make the baby come!” Duggar captioned a photo of herself with Dillard. “Only Braxton Hicks contractions with this weather so far. We shall see what the weekend brings! #nobabyyet #lunchwithmyhubby.”
Dillard shared his feelings on his impending fatherhood in a lengthy post on the couple’s website. The reality star compared his baby’s forthcoming birth to the uncertainty of the “end times” spoken about in the Bible, and urged readers to repent before Jesus’ second coming.
“I can’t even describe right now the anticipation I am feeling, as I am about to get to meet my firstborn son for the first time face to face,” he wrote. “So many people have already testified that nothing can quite describe that moment and that I’ll just have to experience it for myself.”
“Now that I’m about to be a dad, I find it quite interesting that Jesus related the end of the world to the event of birth,” he mused. “And it’s easy to relate to because as much as Jill and I want to know when this birth will happen, the day and the hour of baby dilly’s birth is definitely unknown.”
Duggar and Dillard wed in June 2014, and announced they are expecting in August. The reality star set two due dates for herself, March 24 and April 5, and previously told People she expected her son to be born late. The couple celebrated their one-year engagement anniversary this week.
Duggar and her family came to fame on TLC reality series 19 Kids & Counting. The program follows Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children, whose ages range from 5 to 26, and returned for a 10th season in February. New episodes air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
