NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) — The crowd at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night were in for a surprise when Jimmy Fallon joined U2 on stage during their concert and performed a song with them.
The Tonight Show host was standing in the audience holding a sign that said, “Singer with a broken finger” and Bono invited him to come up and join the band.
“I’m afraid of Irish men that fall down and injure themselves,” Fallon told the U2 frontman, referencing the biking incident that led the band to cancel their week-long Tonight residency.
Fallon ended up going on stage and sang “Desire” while impersonating the lead singer. Entertainment Weekly reported that Fallon told the audience,”It’s not easy being Bono.”
A fan posted a video of the two rocking on stage.
