NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) — Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega has been surprising fans during and after screenings of the film over its opening weekend.
The English actor who plays Finn in the latest installment of the sci-fi saga has showed up unannounced in theaters across New York York City and London thanking fans for their support and exclaiming “May the force be with you.”
“Today I did surprise pop ups for opening night audiences in NYC! Had an amazing time meeting you all and again thank you for all the support,” Boyega wrote on Instagram Friday alongside a video of himself running through the audience collecting a series of high-fives.
Another clip the 23-year-old posted features Boyega inside a Brooklyn theater telling excited fans that he “just wanted to pop by” and that he was “in the area.”
Days later in London, Boyega was seen visiting moviegoers in Greenwich, Brixton and his native Peckham where fans hurried to snap photos of the rising star.
Over the weekend, Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned a staggering $238 million at the North American box office setting a new record for biggest domestic debut in cinema history.
