LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) — John Krasinski recently showed off his new, buff physique for Men’s Health magazine.
The 36-year-old actor landed the publication’s January/February cover, and explained how he bulked up in the interview. Krasinski gained significant muscle in just four months to play Jack Silva in 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
“Getting stronger every day is thrilling,” the star admitted. “[But] I gotta be honest: It was brutal at times. We did tons of metabolic work, dragging sleds and all this stuff I’ve seen NFL players do.”
“I think there’s a part of you where you become addicted to it,” he added. “I love feeling strong. You pick your daughter up with ease while everyone else makes a little grunt when they pick up their kids. I walk with better posture and a little more presence.”
Krasinski, who married actress Emily Blunt in July 2010, shares 22-month-old daughter Hazel with the Into the Woods star. The actor discussed fatherhood with People in August, saying his daughter changed his life.
“I think when you commit your life to anything like that it changes everything,” he said. “I remember Steve Carell said to me, ‘If your old life was your favorite book, then after you have a kid you are picking up a totally different book that is now your new favorite book.’”
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is directed by Michael Bay, and opens in theaters Jan. 15, 2016. The film tells the story of the six members of the U.S. security team who fought to defend the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, against the attack by Islamic terrorists in 2012. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans lost their lives in the attack. The film co-stars James Badge Dale, Max Martini, Toby Stephens and Pablo Schreiber.
