SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal judge in San Francisco says he saw no evidence of criminal activity in recordings an anti-abortion group secretly gathered at annual meetings of an abortion providers’ association.
U.S. District Judge William Orrick made the comments Friday during a hearing over the National Abortion Federation’s request for an injunction that would continue to block the release of the recordings by the Center for Medical Progress.
The National Abortion Federation says releasing any audio or video would put its members in danger.
Orrick seemed to agree, citing the recent shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado that followed the release of other videos by the Center for Medical Progress.
Catherine Short, an attorney for the center, says there’s no evidence the Colorado shooter was motivated by the group’s videos.
Orrick didn’t immediately rule.
