COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho, Aug. 18 (UPI) — Professional dancer Julianne Hough and NHL player Brooks Laich are engaged.
The 27-year-old Dancing with the Stars judge and 32-year-old Washington Capitals center announced the news Tuesday on social media. The couple have been together since December 2013.
“We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love,” Hough captioned a photo of herself in Laich’s arms. The hockey player shared the same picture on his own Instagram.
“Every [past] relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right,” Hough told Redbook last year. “Now I’m not holding anything back because I’d rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love.”
Hough was previously engaged to Zach Wilson, and went on to date Chuck Wicks and Ryan Seacrest. The dancer is a two-time Dancing with the Stars champion, and was made a permanent judge in season 19. The reality competition will return for season 21 on Sept. 14.
