Justin Bieber pushing to get own track bumped from No. 1

LONDON, Dec. 24 (UPI) — Justin Bieber is urging fans to help a different song than his own “Love Yourself” attain this week’s No. 1 spot in the U.K. charts, for charity.

Bieber and his team, including manager Scooter Braun, are looking to promote more sales of the single “A Bridge Over You” by the National Health Service Choir in order to let it reach the top spot in time for Christmas, he announced Wednesday.

“Hmm,” Braun wrote on Twitter, linking Bieber and co-writer Ed Sheeran to a tweet by the Official Charts Twitter page reporting the close race. “Time to do the right thing boys. #giveback.”

Bieber quickly followed suit, urging fans to stop buying “Love Yourself,” and instead help the choir. “I’m hearing this UK Christmas race is close,” the Canadian singer wrote. “But the @Choir_NHS single is for charity. So…”

“So for 1 week it’s ok not to be #1. Let’s do the right thing & help them win,” he wrote in a subsequent message. “It’s Christmas.”
