LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) — Justin Bieber reminisced about ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez by sharing a throwback photo Tuesday on Instagram.
The 21-year-old Canadian singer sent fans into a frenzy by posting a picture of himself with the 23-year-old American actress without a caption, later clarifying fans should “calm down” about the months-old snapshot.
The photo shows Bieber and Gomez on an ATV in Ontario, Canada, in August 2014. The pair were back together at the time, but their outing was interrupted when the singer collided with a minivan and got in an altercation with the driver.
Bieber’s post lead many fans to hope he and Gomez are getting back together. Even rapper Drake showed his support for the former couple, commenting, “Damn thought this was a Jelena current day flick,” with a disappointed emoji.
Bieber and Gomez were an on-again, off-again couple for several years before breaking up in 2014. Both the singer and the actress have previously admitted to still having “love” for each other, and Bieber addressed the split again with Us Weekly last month.
“I learned a lot from the relationship,” he told the magazine. “About life, how to treat women, what women want and need. I think a woman needs security. I think a woman needs to feel that security and know that nothing else matters. I learned that with her.”
Bieber has since been linked to model Jayde Pierce, while Gomez dated DJ Zedd and was spotted with Samuel Krost last month. Bieber released his fourth studio album, Purpose, in November, while Gomez debuted Revival in October.
