NEW YORK, Sept. 28 (UPI) — Kate Hudson displayed her singing talent Tuesday when she sang En Vogue’s “Hold On” during a commercial break on The Tonight Show.

The impromptu performance began after the actress talked with host Jimmy Fallon about the first groups he ever saw in concert, which included the 1990s R&B group En Vogue.

“When I had you, I treated you bad,” Hudson sang from the song, much to the surprise of Fallon, who then joined her vocally along with the show’s band The Roots, which added in the track’s instrumentals.

“They were like my girls,” Hudson said of En Vogue. “I was obsessed with them.”

While Fallon was interviewing Hudson on-air, the pair discussed the possibility of the 37-year-old releasing an album someday.

“I’d love to do a record,” she said. “I’ve always been scared of making music. I write music, and it’s super depressing.”

Hudson last made headlines for singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Fourth of July in 2015.
