NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) — Katie Holmes shocked fans with a drastically different look on the red carpet Monday.
The 36-year-old actress appeared to chop off her hair ahead of the 2015 Met Gala in New York. Stylist D.J. Quintero teased the change on Instagram before Holmes arrived at the annual fundraiser with a blunt bob with bangs.
Alterna Haircare later admitted to Yahoo! Beauty the star was wearing a wig, although Holmes did cut her hair in a similar style in 2008. Quintero told the website he was inspired by Chinese-American actress Anna May Wong.
Holmes wore a sparkling black Zac Posen gown, and was accompanied by the designer himself to the event. The dress featured a cutout back and cloud design, and the actress accessorized with a small Roger Vivier clutch.
Holmes last appeared in Simon Curtis drama Woman in Gold with Helen Mirren, and will star in Paul Dalio romance Mania Days with Luke Kirby. The actress is also scheduled for a guest role on upcoming Showtime series Ray Donovan with Liev Schreiber.
