Katy Perry says she’s ‘always’ loved Taylor Swift despite feud

July 20 (UPI) — Katy Perry says she’s “always” loved Taylor Swift despite their longstanding feud.

The 32-year-old singer maintained Tuesday on the Australian morning show Today that she wishes the 27-year-old pop star nothing but the best.

“I love her. I always have,” she said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “We’ve had our differences but I just continue to say, ‘God bless her on her journey.’”

Perry shared similar sentiments in an interview with Ariana Huffington on The Thrive Global Podcast in June. She said at the time that she was “ready” to let go of her bad blood with Swift.

“I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think it’s actually, like, I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world,” the star explained.

“I love her, and I want the best for her,” she added. “I think that, you know, if we, both her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to be like, ‘Yeah, well we can do this.’”

Perry previously confirmed on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden that her conflict with Swift started over backup dancers. She said three dancers left Swift to work with her after she returned from a hiatus.

“I tried to talk to [Taylor] about it, and she wouldn’t speak to me,” the singer claimed.

“I do the right thing anytime that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me,” she said of Swift’s single “Bad Blood.” “I was like, ‘Okay. Cool, cool, cool. That’s how you want to deal with it?’”

Swift has yet to respond to Perry’s recent comments. The pop star has kept out of the spotlight as she works on her sixth studio album, but returned to Instagram last week to promote Selena Gomez’s song “Fetish.”
