Katy Perry’s dad pokes fun at her Segway fail

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (UPI) — Katy Perry’s dad, Maurice Hudson, poked fun at her recent Segway fail in a video Monday.

The 30-year-old singer shared footage of her father showing off his skills on Instagram, writing, “Thanks dad.” Hudson was able to do one-handed spins on the personal transporter, telling Perry, “This is the way you do it, ha ha!”

Perry had epically failed at riding a Segway at Burning Man festival over the weekend. The star posted a video of her awkward attempt, which ended with her falling off and the machine getting away from her. “Obvious first time burner alert,” she captioned the post.

Singer Cassie and models Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and Kelly Rohrbach were among the other celebrities in attendance. Actress Susan Sarandon brought some of late writer Timothy Leary’s ashes to honor the author at the festival.

Perry was born to Hudson and Mary Perry in Santa Barbara, Calif., October 1984. The singer last released Prism in October 2013, and will kick off the Latin American leg of her accompanying Prismatic world tour Sept. 22 in Lima, Peru.
