Keegan-Michael Key of ‘Key and Peele’ files for divorce on New Year’s Eve

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) — Keegan-Michael Key, 44, star of the award-winning comedy duo “Key & Peele” was not looking to ring in the new year as a married man.

The comedian spent New Year’s Eve filing for divorce from actress and dialect coach Cynthia Blaise, 57, his wife of 17 years.

According to divorce papers, Key and Blaise have been separated since November.

People magazine reported that Key cited “irreconcilable differences” in the court documents and is “asking a delay on deciding the issue of spousal support until a later date.”

Blaise had appeared in several episodes of Key & Peele, the Comedy Central sketch show. The couple starred together in a Second City video short titled “Meditations on Yoga: Ode to a Cougar” in 2010.

The two married in 1998 and have no children together.
