Kim Richards ‘upbeat’ on social media after arrests, hospitalization

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 10 (UPI) — Reality television personality Kim Richards has returned to social media after a rocky summer of arrests and hospitalization.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star tweeted a positive message Monday wishing her fans a “fun & safe Labor Day.”

“I’ve missed you all! Thank you for all the Love, you all mean so much to me,” she wrote, including plenty of emojis in her post. Afterward, the celebrity began responding to mentions wishing her well and answering brief questions.

When asked flat-out if the star, who had struggled with alcohol abuse for years, was still sober, Richards simply replied “yes I am” followed by a string of heart and smiley emojis.

The celebrity returns to Twitter just a little over a month after reports said her family planned to have her hospitalized in the wake of her most recent arrest. The Sharknado 3 actress was apprehended after attempting to steal $600 worth of products from a Target store in early August.

She spent the night at the Van Nuys Police Department and was released the following day on a $5,000 bail and a misdemeanor charge in her pocket.

In April, Richards was charged with battery on a police officer, public intoxication and resisting arrest after an altercation with authorities at a Beverly Hills hotel.

After a summer full of chaotic events, Richards’ ex-husband Monty Brinson took to social media in support of the embattled star.

“One day the people that didn’t believe in you will tell everyone how they met you,” Brinson wrote in late August. “That quote is in honor of @kimrichards11 all I will say at this time besides being best friends, and personally a person who has a great heart is thankful to all her fans and friends for believing in her.”

“Personally I have not seen her but we speak everyday,” he revealed. “Without going into detail 90 percent of what you read is completely false … [you] will see her very soon at what she’s done best all her life since the age of 4 … [I personally] would like to thank everyone who stood by her through this rough time.”
