Klinsmann shakes up US roster for Gold Cup knockout rounds

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — DaMarcus Beasley, Joe Corona and Alan Gordon have been added to the United States roster for the knockout rounds of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

After a sluggish trip through the group stage, coach Jurgen Klinsmann chose to shake up his roster ahead of Saturday’s quarterfinal in Baltimore. Beasley replaces Greg Garza, Corona takes the spot of Alfredo Morales and Gordon replaces Jozy Altidore.

Altidore, who started the first two matches of the group stage, has been dealing with a hamstring issue that has hampered his performance.

The U.S. played Panama to a 1-1 draw on Monday night to finish 2-0-1 atop Group A.
