Lake Superior waterspout caught on camera off Michigan coast

MARQUETTE, Mich., Oct. 16 (UPI) — A motorist stopped to capture video of a waterspout swirling on Lake Superior off the coast of Marquette, Mich.

The video, posted to YouTube and Instagram by Curtis resident Amy Petrie, shows the waterspout spinning in the distance Thursday on Lake Superior.

Petrie said the video was filmed from the side of the M-28 roadway.

The National Weather Service in Marquette issued a tornado warning in case the waterspout came onto land, but the storm dissipated over the water.

The weather service said several smaller waterspouts were also reported on the lake Thursday.
