NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) — Lena Dunham continues to work with HBO as the premium cable network has now ordered a pilot for her new comedy series, Max.
The pilot, which Dunham will direct, is set in the magazine industry in 1963 according to Variety. The half-hour comedy will carry themes of second-wave feminism and star television actress Lisa Joyce as she stumbles her way into the women’s movement.
Dunham has teamed up with producers from her hit HBO show Girls, including Murray Miller, who will pen the pilot and executive produce the show along with Dunham, Jennie Konner and Ilene Landress.
This will be the first leading role for Joyce, whose television credits include Boardwalk Empire, The Good Wife and The Following just to name a few.
Dunham recently launched her new website, LennyLetter.com, which provided subscribers with an exclusive interview with presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton and a recent essay by Jennifer Lawrence on Hollywood sexism.
