LOS ANGELES, June 20 (UPI) — Hillary Clinton’s high-profile $2,700-per-ticket fundraising events in Los Angeles drew a crowd of stars including Pitch Perfect 2’s Elizabeth Banks and Leonardo DiCaprio Friday.
The presidential hopeful returned to Tinseltown to lead fundraisers hosted by Tobey Maguire and HBO executive Michael Lombardo; a luncheon held earlier the day was hosted by Westfield co-CEO Peter Lowy.
Early Friday evening, Clinton headed an event focused on LGBTQ donors at the home of Michael Lombardo and his husband Sonny Ward. Variety reports that about 120 people showed up to hear Clinton address issues in the LGBTQ community.
Afterward, she arrived at Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer’s home in Brentwood to more high-society donors including actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who reportedly brought his mother as his date. Other donors were Elizabeth Banks, Dustin Lance Black and producers Howard Gordon and Bruce Cohen.
At that event, Deadline reports that Clinton assured that she was not interested in representing a third term for either her husband Bill Clinton or Barack Obama, but that she was looking to front her own first term.
She is reported to have also spoke to the champagne-sipping crowd about the Charleston shootings and the still-existing gap between race and religion in various parts of the country. Additionally, sources say she touched on her foreign affairs experience and repeated a line from an earlier speech saying she would be the youngest female president in history.
This was Clinton’s second visit to Los Angeles in two months, she is expected to have raised $1 million this time around.
